Day 26: Imperial Palace & Shinkansen

We got off to a late start this morning which meant that we missed breakfast and had to trudge about in the 30 degree weather looking for something to eat.

In retrospect I suppose it didn’t mean we had to trudge, but trudge we did.

A google map search showed no restaurants in the vicinity of our hotel so we took a chance that a nearby shopping mall would have a food court. Sad when a food court feels like your best bet.

But it was fantastic! Japanese malls seem to have tons of really great restaurants hiding in them, so it worked out nicely.

Refueled, we went back out into the heat and wandered around the East garden of the Imperial palace. Beautiful and inspired me to beautify our gardens! Time to step it up!!!

Next we hopped on the shinkansen to Kyoto which travels at speeds up to 250 km/h.

The views are spectacular! There is a storm rolling in over pristinely kept rice fields.
