Day 3: Deep Cove Sea Kayaking & Second beach

“Once a year go someplace you have never been before.” Dalai Lama

We have really packed so much in on this trip to Vancouver. Today we went to Deep Cove (where the red canoe is from) and went sea kayaking to Jug island. We took 2 sea kayaks – Blake and I in one, Derek, Clara, and Cole in the other.

Quick, beautiful hike there and then we were headed back. Blake wanted to stern on the way back and did a fantastic job.

Wildlife spotted: seal, sea otter, geese, banana slugs, centipedes and humans (Cole’s joke… not mine).

Naturally a water fight with the bailing canons ensued on the way back. That’s what they’re really for, isn’t it? There was laughter, and wetness all around.

Then a park visit to Second beach with some old and dear friends and dinner at White Spot.

Now laundry and gearing up for a long day of travel tomorrow to a place we’ve never been before.

Cambodia here we come!
