Elephants

Today we went to the Phuket elephant sanctuary for old and hurt elephants.

At the very start of the day they showed us a video about how elephants are trained and it was very sad.  The elephants were chained to trees so that they could not move at all and were hit many times. The elephants in this sanctuary are old elephants that used to work in places like that, but are too old and cant anymore. A few were blind, but they could walk around by using their trunk like a stick, and with there sense of smell. We got to feed one of the blind elephants. We fed it bananas and water melons. The elephants trunk felt really weird.

It was fun trip, but also sad seeing how elephants are normally treated.
